A 2018 poll by The American Psychiatric Association showed that nearly 40 percent of Americans are experiencing higher levels of anxiety than they did in 2017.
The cause of this can certainly vary based on each individual, however what is undeniable are the rising levels of mental health issues in America and the various ways in which people try to cope with them.
If it were to be boiled down into general and common categories, Time Magazine states that a lot the anxiety those surveyed were experiencing stemmed from finances, safety levels, and health.
The Anxiety and Depression Association of America reported that anxiety is the most common mental health disorder, accounting for about 18.1 percent of the population in the U.S., and less than half of those who have it get treated for it. Depression does not fall too short behind, and often these mental illnesses can come hand in hand.
Undeniably so, whether those who suffer from a mental illness seek help or not, it can be difficult to persist day by day. Little additions of positivity and daily affirmations can drastically help set the tone for those who suffer from occasional voids of motivation and happiness.
At this point in time, statistics show that it is fairly common to experience these voids and illnesses, and it should be discussed and normalized. There is no shame in trying to better yourself in any way that works best for you.
